His professional journey began in New York City, where he trained within luxury five-star establishments and Michelin-recognised restaurants. Working in some of the city’s most demanding kitchens, he refined his understanding of classical culinary technique, precision and innovation while developing a distinctive contemporary approach to food.
Seeking new challenges, Chef Vindika later led restaurant openings and culinary ventures throughout Germany. These experiences strengthened his expertise not only in cuisine, but also in restaurant operations, kitchen management, team leadership and concept development — giving him a holistic understanding of what defines a successful dining destination.
His time in Melbourne further shaped his culinary philosophy, exposing him to one of the world’s most dynamic food cultures. There, he embraced a style centred on balance, refinement and meaningful dining experiences that connect with diverse audiences.
Today, Chef Vindika returns home to Colombo as one of the creative forces behind The Avenue, combining international influence with Sri Lankan warmth to craft a dining experience rooted in authenticity and modern sophistication.
